Victorian Inspired Art
Ties That Bind was inspired by my love of the
Victorian era and my family ties to my childhood.
The original piece took more than 30 hours to draw.

I used the colored pencil sepia to make the artwork
have the feel of that time in the past. By using my
friend's house for my reference pictures, I was able
to bring back that moment in time. Ties That Bind
was named as a reminder of my past experiences
growing up
with a traditional southern background
in church. It was named after a favorite church
hymn,
"Bless Be The Ties That Bind."

Heavenly Sunlight is an old church hymn
that I grew up singing with my mother. I
took this picture at my dining
room
through my lace curtains. I love how the
light plays on the china.  Although this
piece is smaller than Ties That Bind, it
took over 50 hours to complete.
This a commissioned piece that was done
for a customer that does Civil War
reenactments.  I enjoyed doing this work
because it is part of history and our past.
Although the original or prints of this
drawing can't be purchased, the note card
of this drawing are available.

I see a lot of different settings of
a lineman's equipment
. After all
the hard work
, my husband is
not just leaving his tools around
the house; he's giving me more
subjects for still art.
